IBMは3月12日、IBM i OSのサブスクリプションに関して新たな発表を行った。
IBM i OSのサブスクリプションについては、昨年（2023年）8月29日に、P05およびP10のマシンは2024年3月26日をもって永続ライセンスの販売を終了し、その後はサブスクリプションのみの販売になる、という発表を行っている（2024年2月20日に販売終了日を「5月7日」へ変更）。
また開発意向表明として、永続ライセンスからサブスクリプションへ移行する際の低価格オプションの提供や、すべてのライセンスプログラム製品（LPP）のサブスクリプション提供などを公表していた。
今回の発表は、2024年5月7日より以下の施策を実施するというもの。P05／P10のPower S1014、P10のPower S1022／S1022Sが対象になる。
► IBM i OSサブスクリプション・ライセンスの購入または更新
► 期限切れでないIBM i OSライセンスをIBM i OSサブスクリプション・ライセンスへ切り替える際の低価格オプションの提供（上述「開発意向表明」の実施）
► 新しい特定のPower10マシンを取得する際に、期限切れでないIBM i OSライセンスを移行する機能を廃止する
► IBM i OSサブスクリプション・ライセンスに「登録機能コード（registration feature codes）」を追加する。IBM i OSサブスクリプション・ライセンスの注文処理とトラッキングに使用する目的
► P05マシンのIBM i OSサブスクリプションは、ユーザー数の選択が5ユーザー単位から10ユーザー単位へ変更される
なお、「低価格オプションの提供」の詳細は未公表。
